The marmite was a moderate-sized squid-like magical creature. Described as a "cross between a dust mite and squid," it had a transparent, bioluminescent body and long trailing tentacles. These tentacles could reach up to ten feet in young specimens, and presumably became even longer in adults.
Young marmites were apparently unable to feed themselves and had to be bottlefed when kept in captivity.
