[As Newt spoke, Ivy watched him get caught up on his own words. It was adorable really. She rested her chin on her palm and remained quiet as she listened. as smile tugging at the corners of her mouth at the fondness in his tone.
Once he was done, she flashed him a very pretty grin.]
Very impressive. It's nice to hear someone with such passion speak.
[After his earlier conversation with Jean, Armin has been reaching out to people. Like he had told Jean if they wanted to figure out what was going on here, if something was going on here, it was important to have more information. Five people suffering from nightmares could be chalked up to a coincidence. Not a likely one, but still. They all were prone to nightmares, after all. But if more people were suffering from this, especially people who weren't known for having frequent nightmares, the chance that it was a coincidence grew smaller and smaller. And if something was going on, it was important to figure out if it had anything to do with their stay in Fuchsia --so far all the people Armin knew were suffering from nightmares had been in Fuchsia-- or if it was another cause altogether. Mr Newt hadn't stayed in Fuchsia as long as they had, but he had still been there.
Plus, nothing wrong with making sure everybody was all right.
Which is why Armin is calling Newt. He looks a bit pale and tired himself, but there is also something steely in the faint frown on his face. It's his thinking face, the face he always wears when puzzling over a strategy or trying to get to the bottom of something. Newt has mostly seen him be the nerd, but there is a strategist in the boy too.]
Mr Newt, I hope I'm not disturbing you, but do you have a moment? There is something I'd like to ask, if you don't mind.
[Newt had been having strange dreams, he wouldn't deny that, but to call them nightmares would be a stretch. Whatever game the Pokemon responsible were trying to play, it wasn't working on Newt and the Drowzee that had been lurking about their campsite on Mt. Mortar had given up after a few days of nothing.
There just wasn't much that seemed to phase Newt, even in nightmares.
A curious look crosses his face when he sees that look on Armin's, recognizing it as the look one wears when challenged by something.]
No, no, there's nothing to disturb. Just chatting with Cornelius. [Said Oranguru peers at the 'gear curiously before waving at Armin.] What can I help you with?
[Armin returns Cornelius' wave, but it is rather distracting. His mind is fully focused on the nightmare problem and on wondering whether or not Newt might be suffering from them too.]
I was wondering. How have you been doing since you left Fuchsia? Has anything unusual been happening?
[That makes-- actually, he's almost starting to lose count of how many people he now knows are dealing with nightmares right now. It really doesn't seem like it can be anything coincidental anymore.]
[Armin touches his chin in thought, trying to think back.]
We spent several days on the water as we journeyed to Cinnabar Island, so there couldn't have been any around then. I don't remember seeing any while we were on Cinnabar Island either, but I might have missed it. I could ask the others if they have seen any though.
[Newt is greeted by the familiar smiling face of Ivy.
As usual she's surrounded by a gaggle of various Pokemon. Though she does appear a little... worn down? To be fair, it's most likely due to the lack of restful sleep everyone's been having.]
Newt, my daffodil, how have you been? I've missed your adorable face.
I believe they might be. They seem to be appearing in areas that aren't normal for them to be in and are rather..insistent on getting close to people. It's rather strange behavior.
[She looks confused for moment before her eyes flicker in recognition.]
Oh, you mean the dreams everyone's been talking about. Luckily, my rest has been relatively peaceful. [She points upwards and tilts the camera where he can see a Phantump and a large Pumpkaboo protectively circling her head.] Snaggy and Pepo were rather determined to keep the interlopers at bay.
I did attempt to search the forest but it didn't yield much. [She brushes a hand through her red hair and speaks casually.] No, I suffer from SAD. But it's an annual thing.
[Ivy gives him another smile.] It appears you'd benefit from a rest more than I would.
I am very glad to hear that, Pamela. I was lucky enough to avoid nightmares of my own, as well, but it seems that many others weren't quite as lucky.
[He needed to touch base with Armin and make sure the young man was okay, speaking of which.]
Sad? Did something upset you? [Sorry, Ivy. That sort of thing wasn't, well, a thing where he's from.]
I'll be alright. Just been rather busy with all this forest nonsense. I, ah, attempted to speak with the Pokemon responsible but it didn't work out in my favor, I'm afraid.
Oh, Newt. You're adorable. No, it's seasonal effective disorder. It effects my mood and energy levels. It's rather... Bad for me during the fall. But luckily mine tends to pick up by mid winter.
[She sends him a wink.] Consider yourself lucky, I don't tend to socialize much when it's in effect.
[A small orange head appears by her arm as she talks.] Yes, they weren't the most talkative of creatures. And they certainly seemed to put a lot of my babies on egde.
[A sheepish look touches his face as he ducks his head, clearing his throat.]
My apologies. I've never heard of such a thing. Is it something that's always happened to you?
[It sounded rather dreadful--
Oh why did you have to add a wink? That finally gets him blushing some.]
I..I rather enjoy talking to you, Pamela. I wouldn't call it lucky not to hear from you.
[That took a lot out of him to admit, okay.
His momentary embarrassment starts to melt away when that little orange head appears, Newt making a thoughtful sound.] No, not at all. Not even with other Pokemon. [A small smile appears.] Hello there, little one.
Yes. Like I said, every year. Though, I'll admit it's not been as insufferable this time.
[She keeps her eyes fixed on him.] Well, that certainly is a relief. Afterall, talking to you is the only way I can placate not being able to meet you in person.
[The Charmander squeaks in shock at suddenly being brought into the spotlight of the conversation and tries to hide behind Ivy's elbow. Meanwhile, Ivy suddenly has the most playful smirk across her face.] Oh, I haven't introduced you.
[Ivy picks up the little creature who bashfully hides his face behind his hands.] I found this little one in Mt. Motar, looking very lost and alone. Tyler and I have gotten very attached to him.
[She strokes the top of the lizard's smooth head.] Newt, this is Newt. [Bright blue eyes peer out from behind claws curiously.]
