Game History:
Upon arriving in the Pokemon World, Newt spent his first few days reading the entire Pokedex as he got his travels underway, accompanied by Queenie the Audino--his partner Pokemon! He eventually remembered that he had the capability to post to a network of some sort and introduced himself to the other residents of the world and quickly befriended several individuals who seemed to share a similar passion for studying creatures as he did. (Pamela Iseley and Armin Arlert being two of the notable ones.) While awkward as always, Newt quickly found it easy enough to offer help to others that had problematic Pokemon while slowly collecting traveling companions of his own--most of which didn't even have a Pokeball; they simply decided to tag along with the wizard because they liked his company. His first month and a half were spent traveling Johto and spending a solid week in the library housed at Sion and Ryner's gym outside of Ecruteak City so he could learn everything he could about the world he was now living in.
It was towards the middle of August that things started to get a bit..strange for the first time, a trio of Legendaries (Raikou, Suicune and Entei) started causing trouble all over both the Johto and Kanto regions. What seemed like territory disputes between the trio caused massive issues all over the place and brought on the appearance of another Legendary Trio in the process--Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno. Newt had traveled to the Seafoam Islands after the birds appeared to help with the clean-up there, due to the birds's antics, when information led many of the individuals on the islands into the caves and, eventually, into Lugia's lair. (Where Newt ended up scolding the Legendary for not being more aware of what was going on.) The chaos was eventually subdued and the beasts reigned in by Lugia and Ho-oh collectively, allowing for things to go back to a somewhat normal state.
After the chaos Newt spent a bit of time in the Kanto Region, spending time with Armin and his friends before traveling a bit and finding some new Pokemon friends along the way. He eventually crossed paths with Ford Pines, after contacting him about the unusual amount of Phantumps he'd been seeing as of late, and the pair ended up traveling to Mt. Moon together where Newt met Cornelius the Oranguru whom he immediately bonded with and developed a unique sign language with.
The unusual amount of Phantumps had apparently been a sign of things to come and many of the other worldly residents found themselves caught in a Nightmare Forest created by a Drowzee and a Trevenant. Newt was one of the lucky few who avoided any nightmares of his own, though he did end up in Armin's dream, guiding the now much younger version of his friend out of the terrifying situation as best he could. Everyone trapped in the forest was eventually freed, largely in thanks to all the Pokemon willing to help, and Newt returned once more to Johto, meeting with Diana Ladris, a young woman he'd become close friends with over the months he'd been in the world. (While also dealing with Pamela's constant flirting which he had no idea what to do about though he was very much attracted to her.)
After meeting with Diana the wizard and his growing troupe of Pokemon ventured south and eventually ended up in Ilex Forest where he and Pamela finally got the chance to meet in person. It went as expected and Newt was just as charmed (and flustered) by her in person as he had been over the network, the two settling into the song and dance that is the start of a relationship--or perhaps they already had been it's really hard to say. This led to Newt making the decision to rent a cottage on the outskirts of Azalea Town near the forest, so he could be close to Pamela and where she was staying, setting up an un-official rescue of sorts for all of his Pokemon companions. It was just after this that he ended up speaking with a young woman on the network by the name of Hermione Granger, though their meeting was brief. (It wouldn't be until later that a certain bomb was dropped.)
He celebrated his first Christmas in the Pokemon World at his cabin, with Pamela and a surprise visit from Armin actually, and was gifted an abundance of eggs by his Pokemon. (Was it mentioned that Newt had taken on the role of Pokemon Breeder in the world?) His growing assortment of Pokemon gained him a reputation with the residents of Azalea Town and he became something of a Dr. Dolittle figure/Pokemon Whisperer. (Need help or advice? Go talk to the guy that talks to Pokemon on the outskirts of town!)
At the start of the new year Newt found himself experiencing something new: the arrival of someone from his home world. Credence Barebone appeared in the Pokemon World and the young man remembered a lot less than Newt himself did, posing a bit of a problem since he had no idea who the wizard was. It took some time to calm him down but eventually Newt was able to ease his worries and reassure him that everything was alright, offering the young man a place to stay at his cottage in exchange for help with all of the Pokemon--especially the young ones. (Newt was also rather immediately protective of Credence, given what had happened to the young man back in their world, though he made sure not to speak a word of it to Credence. He wanted him to have a chance to be happy.) Not long after bringing Credence back to his cottage, Hermione stumbled upon his residence as well and it was then that time shenanigans became a more apparent thing to Newt. Not only did he learn that Hermione was from the future of his world but that his book was published and used at Hogwarts of all places. Needless to say it was a lot to take in and he and Hermione bonded quickly over the entire thing.
February rolled around and Newt continued adopting more companions, including Lapras which he'd ended up with a small pod of on his property, deciding around this time that he wanted to attempt to re-establish breeding populations in the wild since Lapras had been hunted to near extinction in the wild. While he was busy with all of his creatures, Pamela was busy planning a surprise birthday party for him that Newt very nearly didn't even realize was going on. (But it was delightful nonetheless and Newt had no idea how to deal with it.)
At the start of March Newt took a rather impromptu trip to the Ruins of Alph with Credence after his young charge showed interest in the place, the pair crossing paths with Hermione there and spending almost a week exploring the ruins with her. It wasn't until returning home and not hearing from Pamela for some time that Newt realized something was amiss and, well, cue their first fight as a couple. (Newt learned that he needed to think before running off without actually telling people where he was going.) They worked things out, even if it took some time to get it through Newt's thick skull, and were able to pick up where they had left off. Later in the month Newt would find himself getting happily roped into the start of a Breeder's Union that Hermione was looking to establish so that all the breeders in the world could stay connected and work together to provide people with specific Pokemon they may be after or help with projects--like Newt's own Lapras project! The end of March brought a bit of sadness for Newt and his companions as one of his long time Pokemon friends, Fay the Floette, took her leave, covering Newt's cottage in flowers as a parting gift before heading off to explore the world. She wasn't the first to go but it was definitely one of the hardest goodbyes Newt had experienced in quite some time.
After a trip to the Carnival with Pamela at the beginning of April, Newt headed to the Sevii Islands with everyone else to experience his first Pokemon Prom event! The yearly event was hosted at different venues every year and was being held at Resort Gorgeous this time, giving Newt a chance to explore the Sevii Islands properly and meet some new Pokemon. It was a calm, relaxing weekend to remember...at least until the Ultra Beasts showed up and wrecked the party. Working alongside several others to subdue the creatures, Newt was at a loss for what the odd things were or where they came from.
Sadly, before he could really do much research on the subject, he found himself no longer in the Pokemon world....

+Pokemon Roster
Pokemon Roster has extra flavor text in the individual entries; it's nothing overly important but I wanted to include it in case people were interested!
Personality:
Newt isn't really a people person. Sure he does well enough when he has to interact with others but he definitely seems to prefer to just not interact with anyone outside of his animals if he can help it. He doesn't know how to carry conversations all that well, usually ending them awkwardly and quickly in an attempt to carry on his way and finish whatever it is he's working on. His nervous ticks rear their head the most when he's around other people, Newt sometimes fumbling over words if he gets too flustered or even doing anything he can to keep his hands busy and his eye contact elsewhere. He's not trying to be rude; he's just that awkward about things sometimes. (Most of the time he'll just do his best to avoid social interactions as a whole but there are times when it's inevitable. Unfortunately.)
While he may not be much of a people person, Newt doesn't harbor any ill will towards other nor is he the type to discriminate. He sees people as people and treats everyone with the same respect and kindness. He's very much a man of principle in that sense and will openly counter someone that is attempting to discriminate against someone for some reason or another. It's this same mindset that has him putting people and animals on the same pedestal, so to speak, seeing everyone as equals no matter what they may be considered.
When it comes to animals, Newt becomes a completely different person. He's much more open around creatures and smiles more often and in general just becomes a bit more chatty. He really seems to be in his element when he's surrounded by animals and becomes more social, willing engaging people that may happen to be around while he's interacting with his suitcase full of beasts. He's extremely devoted to the creatures in his care and spends the majority of his time keeping them safe, happy and healthy. He's very passionate about everything to do with his study of fantastic beasts, well versed in every aspect of the creatures he cares for and very willing to learn everything he can about those that he hasn't encountered yet.
Newt doesn't have much in the way of a temper, preferring to flee rather than get into an argument with others. He prefers to try and find a peaceful solution, if necessary, never wanting to willing harm a person or beast. This isn't to say that he won't engage in a wizarding duel if necessary and he can definitely hold his own (Newt is well versed in charms and is a very quick draw with his wand while also accomplished at using nonverbal magic) but it's usually a last resort for him. Now, threaten his animals and you may see a very different side of Newt but even then it's not a violent temper; more of a worried, fearful anger that comes out where he'd rather get hurt himself but allowing his beasts to. There are exceptions to this, of course. (A certain Legendary learned this first hand.) Try Newt's patience too much and he won't hesitate to scold you and point out what you're doing and how it's hurting those around you. He's much quicker to put a stop to behaviors he views as inappropriate these days, having seen enough destruction due to temper tantrums to last him for a good long while.
Once upon a time Newt might have been easy to label as something of a lonely person. He had his creatures to keep him company and honestly he's not much of a people person in general, but he had started to come out of his shell and found himself a close group of friends. He found himself making connections with others, enjoying the friendships he found and perhaps even the something more that was beginning to blossom with Tina. Even after being uprooted into a completely different universe Newt refused to let himself hide away, forcing himself to forge new friendships and keep moving forward with his life. He's become a bit more outgoing because of it, largely in part to having people to take care of in the Pokemon World like Credence and, in a way, Hermione, and no longer hesitates to offer his assistance to others. (Not that he ever really did it was just..sometimes a bit hard to tell that was what he was trying to do because of how awkward he is at times.) His romantic relationship with Pamela Iseley also helped him grow a bit more confident in himself, as well, and while it's still easy to fluster him, a year in Pamela's presence has taught him how to deal with a lot of very...suggestive comments and situations.
Newt is very intelligent in more than just things concerning beasts, a very quick study in both the wizard and muggle worlds. He uses the knowledge he has of both words to continue his study of beasts and adapt to whatever situation he may end up in. He's got an encyclopedic knowledge of creatures, is skilled in crafting potions, has an extensive knowledge of magical history and, in general, is just a quick study in anything that could be useful to him. He'll willingly share this information with others that show interest, more than happy to teach people about creatures and everything to do about them if they ask. (At current, he's written two different copies of his manuscript for people as well as a rough draft journal of sorts about his time in the Pokemon world so recreating his works is something he can do rather easily.)
